INFORMATION SECURITY: THE BURNING ISSUES
Recent high profile breaches of information security have ensured that the management of information and of information risk is now a priority for many organisations.
Records managers and archivists who would like to learn more about managing information risk will find this an invaluable event. Bookings must be received by 13 November.
At this event experts Alastair Brown, Elizabeth Lomas and Stephen McCartney will share their experience and expertise with delegates. Alastair Brown, Head of Computing at MRC, Human Genetics Unit, will be providing a plain English guide to firewalls, passwords, encryption, with lots of practical suggestions for things to do and watch out for. Stephen McCartney, Head of Data Protection at the Information Commissioner's Office, will be speaking on Data Protection and the role of the Information Commissioner's Office and Elizabeth Lomas will be providing practical advice on aligning records management practice with risk and information security models. Elizabeth was a member of the Government's BS7799/ISO 27001 Committee (2000-2007) and is a qualified lead auditor in ISO 270001 (the information security standard).
A short AGM for the RM Group will take place at noon. Attendance at the AGM is free for members of the RM Group.
