Hello allstat-ers,
I recently received a comment from a reviewer that I was semantically
incorrect in using the phrase "we fitted a range of models". The
reviewer tells me that what we do is fit data to models not models to
data. My opinion is that data are fixed (once observed) and models are
flexible, so I consider that I fit a model to data. But grammar and
semantics has never been my strong point.
If this is a previous topic does anyone remember the subject of this
topic. Otherwise I would be grateful of any opinions on the matter.
Please send replies directly to me [log in to unmask]
<mailto:[log in to unmask]> and I will summaries for the list.
Best wishes,
Colin.
