Dear Michael,
Since you sent your message to the whole list I shall reply to the list, although this will be the last message I will write on this specific matter. I apologise if my message appeared smug. That was not the intention. I think it was more marked by occasional frustration caused by...well, no point going into details.
Discussion around the election of a new President, whether it be McCain, Obama or anyone else, falls directly within the remit of this group (so long as it has something to do with health and/or health care). Same applies to the election of new Prime Ministers (and indeed policies of existing Presidents and Prime Ministers of course) . But we do need to take care I guess to make sure that all sides of the political spectrum have the opportunity to express themselves. As co-ordinator of the network, I encourage all sides to express their views.
I will remove your name from the list Michael (to save you the time to do it yourself), but I think it's probably a good idea to keep in mind the general rule of only being prepared to write something to someone that you are prepared to say to their face (this applies to me as well - took me a long time to realise this, in fact). As my grandma used to say, you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
Very best wishes,
Adam

Adam,
I think our Canadian colleague made an extremely reasonable
request and your response was more than a little smug. Please remove my
name for the list.

Dear Stefane
This is the Anglo-American Health Policy Network. Right now,
discouraging discussion of Obama would be like establishing a network to
discuss the construction of a sandwich whilst forbidding people to
mention bread.
You have the capacity to delete any messages that don't interest you.
But if you would rather leave the network, let me know and I'll delete
your name from the list.
Very best wishes,
Adam

Is there a way I can stop receiving these emails about Obama without
leaving the group?
Thanks
