could it be sevous, whihch is a rare obsolete word meaning fatty, from sevus
which means suet?
In the 1928 OED no regions given.
(I thought it could have been an old Gaelic word but couldnt find one & I
cant check for Welsh.)

Subject: word query
Does anyone here know what 'sevish' means?
My children are learning about compass directions and I suddenly remembered
a sentence I was taught as a child (by my great grandmother?) 'Never Eat
Sevish Wheat'. I believe that I was told that it meant 'rotten', which
would make sense in this context but I just want to check.
A quick google search has not been very helpful.
Thank you in advance
Tina
