INTERNSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
The Centre for Refugee Studies at York University, Toronto ON, Canada is
pleased to announce the 2009 Summer Course on Forced Migration Issues,
to be held June 6-14th 2009 at the Keele campus. The Summer Course is an
internationally acclaimed 8-day program for academics and field-based
practitioners working in the area of forced migration. The course
involves a rigorous schedule of lectures, panels and discussions, and a
simulation exercise. Drawing from academic and field-based experts for
its faculty and, reflecting the Centre’s mission, the course serves as a
hub for researchers, students, service providers and policy makers to
share information and ideas.
The Centre is now accepting applications for 2009 Summer Course
internships. Positions will commence the week of January 22nd, 2009 and
run through the course. Interns will hold both general administrative as
well as academic responsibilities for ensuring the success of the course.
In exchange for fulfilling the internship requirements, students will be
able to take the course free of charge (at $975 value). As well,
students enrolled in the CRS Graduate Diploma program may count the
course toward their fulfillment of the Diploma requirements. Finally,
students may elect to gain independent study credits through the course
per the requirements and guidelines of their specific departments.
Internship positions are also open to non-York students.
