Call for papers EuroCities-DATTA Workshop “Urban mobility in Europe,
impact of fuel price on car use”
8-9 January 2009, Namur, Belgium
EuroCities-DATTA (see below) will hold its second workshop on 8 and 9
January 2009 in Namur (Belgium). Along with the presentation of the
final results of EuroCities-DATTA regarding the international comparison
of urban mobility between different cities (France, Switzerland,
Belgium) and a few invited papers, we take this opportunity to launch a
call for papers which will be selected for presentation on the two
following themes :
a) International comparison of urban mobility: what makes the
differences in mobility behaviour between European cities, are they
urban forms, lifestyle differences, specific policies, or else?
b) The effects of fuel price increase on mobility behaviour: despite
fluctuations in oil price the persistence of the increase for more than
four years has visible effects on overall traffic and fuel consumption.
Which changes in mobility are at stake? What trade-offs are made by the
households?
Abstracts should be sent in duplicate to Charles Raux
([log in to unmask]) and Eric Cornelis
([log in to unmask]).
Accommodation for attendance to the workshop in Namur will be taken in
charge for one author per selected paper.

EuroCities-DATTA (Distance-Activity-Travel-Time-Accessibility) is a
three years project (2008-2010) whose objective is to explore the
complex issue of activity pattern make-up within an urban space
characterised by heterogeneous spatial accessibility. Main research
directions include international comparison of urban mobility, analysis
of travel duration and its relationship with the duration of activities,
temporal rhythms in travel and activity patterns, and individual
perceptions of travel time and spaces. The project is funded by the
French National Agency for Research (ANR) and lead by LET (Transport
Economics Laboratory, CNRS and University of Lyon). The two other
project participants are the LASUR (Laboratoire de Sociologie Urbaine,
EPFL, Lausanne) and the GRT (Groupe de Recherche sur les Transports,
FUNDP, Namur).
