Michel Jouvin found a bomb in the latest BDII startup script.

There is a VERY VERY big bug in /etc/init.d/bdii in BDII 4.0 (update
33).
This script does :
chown -R $BDII_USER "${BDII_VAR_DIR}/" "${BDII_DIR}/etc/"
without checking if the variable is defined. As a result if
$BDII_VAR_DIR
is undefined all files in the system are chowned to edguser and the
system
is no longer usable. We just lost ALL of our grid services because of
that.
Please, an urgent EGEE broadcast is needed about this and a fix.
