I saw the message

Warning: The argument for the %s format specifier must be of type char (a
string).
in SPM2 when I up graded Matlab versions.
These where just warning messages and did not effect the results for me.
However, I hated all the warning and the fix was very simple.
I just did a search for fprintf and cast the input arguments to char
using the char() command.
