Dear SNOMS,
Does anyone recognise the following quotation?
'it is better to be an electric current for five years than a vegetaable for fifty'.
I got this in a letter sent by Hugh MacDiarmid to a friend. However MacD was a great 'borrower' and I have a feeling that I have read this before, in connection with the Sitwells, probably Edith.
If anyone recognises this, could they e-mail me, either at the Scotlit address or at [log in to unmask] (my home study).
In expectation!
best,
Margery Palmer McCulloch
