Dear Rhys,
English Heritage is currently funding a Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment
Survey for the Severn Estuary. See
http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/nav.18390
for information on the RCZAS programme.
These particular hulks may or may not be in the county HER or the NMR,
but are likely to have been noted as part of the RCZAS, unless they are
too far upstream. I suggest you contact
[log in to unmask] for information: he is leading the
RCZAS for the Severn.
Best wishes,
Peter Murphy
Coastal Strategy Officer

Subject: Barges - Sharpness Dock, Severn Estuary
Hi,
I am part of a team surveying 4 hulks within the confines of the old
Sharpness
Dock half pound on the Shaprness-Gloucester canal.
The hulks are the "Society" a stroudwater barge, the "Mary" a Mary
barge,
and two unknown barges most likely dumb lighters.
Does anyone have any information on theses hulks in particular? or any
information on the identification of different barges that may prove
useful?
Please feel free to ask questions or to contact me.
Many thanks
Rhys
