Hi
A discussion on the FOI JISC came up with different options for
differing reasons. Check out the debate at the FOI JISC
We chose 7 years because of possible litigation with regard to
information supplied, others chose different periods for differing
business reasons.
The RMS did not prescribe a period as the last schedule was written in
2003. That schedule is now being updated and will include an FOI
suggested period. Please bear in mind that business requirements, where
longer than any statutory requirements, always prevail.
Regards
Paul

Subject: Freedom of Information requests
I am seeking guidance on how long local authorities should be keeping
copies
of Freedom of Information requests and their answers. I believe that for
monitoring purposes and the investigation of complaints, this should be
at
least 12 months (both paper and electronic).
What do other people think - is there a standard time recommended by the
Records Management Societyr of GB?
