I also hope that the new professor is a bit more active in wider aspects of
Public Understanding of Science. Richard may be good at promoting evolution,
but there are vast swathes of science where his contribution to PEST, Public
Engagement in Science and Technology, a much better phrase to use these
days, has been minimal.
That other PEST Prof, Kathy Sykes, may not have the scientific oomph of
Dawkins, but she has done much more on the broader front.
