Yes, folks, Ms TN has been a bit slack on the updates recently, for
which apologies.
The blog has been reasonably busy, nonetheless. Most recently, I've
reviewed the most recent of the Currency House Platform Papers -
Getting Heard: Achieving an effective arts advocacy, by Chris Puplick,
and editorialised a little about arts advocacy and such things,
including the 2020 Summit and subsequent dustups.
Since last we spoke, I've uploaded reviews on
* A couple of Fringe shows - The Heart of Another is a Dark Forest,
Rawcus & Restless Dance Co; In the Arms of a Lion, White Swan
Productions
* Just Macbeth, Bell Shakespeare
* The Zombie State, Melbourne Workers Theatre and Union Theatre
* Red Sky Morning, Red Stitch
There's a preview of the MTC's 2009 season, announced this week. Plus
various bits and pieces of news, and a personal note signalling that I
ain't putting up with any more abuse. Not that there's been a lot on
TN, which has been a reasonably civilised place where difference is
negotiated, well, civilly; but when shit happens, it happens.
And now we're heading into peak season. The Melbourne Fringe opened
last week, and I'll be seeing a few things, and have given a few links
to people who will be covering it in more detail.
And then, coming up like an express train is the 2008 Melbourne
Festival. I am on the quivive with this one, which is Kristy Edmunds'
last and is glimmering promisingly with some very exciting work. TN
will be providing full coverage over the three weeks of the festival,
covering as many shows as are compatible with one body. And I also
might be appearing in conversation with Ms Patti Smith when she reads
at Readings on October 10.
So watch this space!
