took us into dark pilgrimage
and soothed as if by the ocean's
eternal turning flange, its
great carnivous indifference,
blue, green, calm, and
bruised and folding, heaving
emotion slowly smashed
into tender smithereeens here
by Rochester's rain-grayed
bay.
