I pass along this tiny excerpt from a letter he sent me
April 2006, where he describes getting a moment on the
page:
"Near the house here grows some trillium, which in
spring is in flight from us, and yet we have to set it down
complete with the asymmetries of journal, cushion, cup,
all we might then have missed in that gone moment when
we were living it."
I shall miss his Cheshire smile and the
red gallon plonk shared on an autumn day at the end of t
he last century out on Bear Path Road in Munnsville...
