In this difficult economic and social environment, www.equityforchildren.org
is ever more important. This month we launch a more frequent update that
will serve as an educational and communication tool for practitioners,
academics, and all those interested in eliminating poverty and bettering the
lives of children and families.

?Out of the Shadows,? by Mark Farrell-Javits and Lupe Tomic, is a short
documentary about the Escuela de Enseñanza Media No.2 D.F.4, in Buenos
Aires , Argentina . More generally, it is about the role of education in
Argentina today. Students of the Graduate Program in International Affairs,
at The New School (www.ia.newschool.edu), in New York City , wrote,
directed and filmed this documentary during their International Field
Program and internship with Fundación SES, in Buenos Aires
(www.fundses.org.ar).

UNICEF?S State of the World?s Children Report ? 2008
The State of the World?s Children 2008 provides a wide-ranging assessment of
the current state of child survival and primary health care for mothers,
newborns and children. It examines lessons learned in child health during
the past few decades and outlines the most important emerging precepts and
strategies for reducing deaths among children under age five and for
providing a continuum of care for mothers, newborns and children.
