Post Doctoral Research Fellowship in Photochemical Reaction Dynamics
School of Chemistry, University of Bristol
Vacancy ref. 14423
Applications are invited for an EPSRC funded postdoctoral research fellowship
in the group of Professor M.N.R. Ashfold in the School of Chemistry at the
University of Bristol. The appointee will focus on exploring the photodynamic
behaviour of organic and biological molecules in the gas phase, using Rydberg
tagging and ion imaging methods, and seek to extend such investigations into
the condensed phase using ultra-fast laser facilities at the Lasers for Science
Facility at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. This project is one part of a larger
Bristol/Oxford collaborative programme in Chemical and Photochemical
Dynamics.
Applicants should have (or be about to receive) a Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical
physics, or related discipline, and a proven record of experience with as any of
the following as possible: tuneable nanosecond pulsed laser systems, ultrafast
laser systems, high vacuum technology, imaging methods.
The position is available from 1 February 2009 for up to 3 years subject to
performance.
