Position Overview:
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for a
Lectureship in the Media Studies
programme of the School of English and Media Studies. The programme
teaches papers in internal and
extramural (teaching at a distance) delivery modes, at both
undergraduate and graduate levels. This
is a permanent, full-time position, based in Palmerston North.
The School's undergraduate programme includes papers in film,
television, popular music,
advertising, visual culture, new media, as well as literary studies,
academic writing, creative
writing and performance drama. The graduate programme focuses on media
and literary studies and has
a strong research emphasis. Teaching at graduate level is currently
expanding its extramural
offerings.
Applicants are expected to have a sound background in Media Studies
and be able to provide
leadership for introductory courses. In addition, applicants will be
expected to teach in one or
more of the following areas: new media, popular music, advertising,
visual culture, and gender.
The successful applicant will have a PhD either completed or near
completion at the time of
application. Some university teaching experience and academic
publication or other evidence of
ongoing research capacity will be expected.
