There is a full programme of events planned on the Second Life (SL, the virtual
world) island Infolit iSchool this autumn, with sessions led by librarians from
the US and UK, and an Education professor. You need a SL avatar and the SL
browser installed to participate.
The autumn series starts Thursday 2nd October, 8am SL time (which is 4pm UK
time) "Building information literacy" part one. Come along and contribute ideas
and/or your skills in building, to create an information literacy experience
around the SCONUL 7 Pillars of Information Literacy. A key aim is to help
students understand the value and meaning of each pillar, and this will be an
evolving build. If you don't build, you can contribute ideas on the Pillars'
meaning and test out what others are doing. There is information on the 7
Pillars at
http://www.sconul.ac.uk/groups/information_literacy/seven_pillars.html
