Sorry
I should have stated that the previous post represents my views and not necessarily those of my employer (although we are part of Ethos)

Dear Annette and Alison
Thanks for your messages. I am trying to establish what we shall do about
ours when EThOS is launched so I will let you all know once that is. We
are sending theses to be digitised by EThOS but only once we have received
permission fromteh author to do this. So far we have sent about 70 theses
for digitisation to EThOS to be included on its launch - we were asked for
400, found addresses for 300 and had 70 or so replies mostly a yes but a
few nos.
I am concerned that we will lose access to borrowing Cambridge theses and a
whole lot more from universities not depositing in EThOS. Our own will not
be available except for the minority so far where we have permission. I do
not understand why BL cannot go on lending microfilms which are already in
their possession as that seems to me to be just the same as lending
anything else they have. I can understand them not wanting to add to their
collection but it is preventing access not to make available ones they have
and which are not going to be available through EThOS.
