Call for papers to present a breakout session at the 2009 UKSG
Conference and Exhibition entitled 'A student perspective on accessing
academic information in the Google Era'

The UKSG annual conference attracts delegates from across the
information industry, from publishers and intermediaries to librarians.
We are looking for a current student to give an original and personal
perspective on being a 'digital native'

<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_native> ). How do you search for
and accesses academic information for your studies and research. How do
you begin the process? Where do you find the information that you need?
How do you assess whether it is good or bad? And what are your pet
hates?
The UKSG would like to invite papers from interested undergraduate,
postgraduate or research students on UK/Irish Library and Publishing
courses.
The winning entrant will be invited to give a presentation drawing on
the key issues in a breakout session at the 32nd 2009 UKSG Conference
and Exhibition at the Riviera Centre, Torquay, 30 March - 1 April.
Breakout sessions will run on Monday/Tuesday or Tuesday/Wednesday and
typically attract up to 40 delegates.
The prize will also include:
- A residential place on the 2009 UKSG Conference and Exhibition
including reasonable travel expenses
- Publication of the paper in Serials - this paper will be made open
access from publication
- Presentation of a prize at the 2009 UKSG Conference and Exhibition
- Free place on a presentation skills course prior to the conference

Submission criteria
Entrants should submit 500 words outlining the presentation entitled 'A
perspective on accessing academic information in the Google Era '
Short listed entrants may be invited to discuss their proposal with a
panel
