Job Announcement: Assistant Professor of Italian
The Italian Studies program of the Department of Languages, Literatures, and
Cultures, University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a
position at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track), beginning September
2009. The successful candidate will be prepared to offer both undergraduate and
graduate courses in Italian cinema, modern Italian literature from the 18th
century to the present, and Italian language. We seek candidates with a strong
commitment to undergraduate teaching in language and literature and strong
scholarly promise, who will strengthen our Master's in Teaching (MAT)
curriculum and enhance our ongoing outreach efforts. Salary commensurate with
qualifications and experience. Native or near-native fluency in Italian and
English. Ph.D. in hand by September 1, 2009. Please send letter, CV, 3 letters
of recommendation, teaching evaluations, a statement of research interests, and
a writing sample to: Prof. Michael Papio, Chair, Search Committee, Italian
Studies, Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, 312 Herter Hall,
