Invitation to Event at The British Library:
"Web 2.0 and Social Research"
Tuesday 4 November 2008, 10:30 - 13:00
I am delighted to invite you to the above event to disseminate the findings of a report on the use of Web 2.0 by social scientists as a research tool.
The report follows a three-month research project conducted as part of a joint initiative between the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the British Library. The initiative enables the ESRC-funded research students to work with various organisations on short Fellowships.
The research asked social science researchers to reflect upon the evaluation criteria, such as data validity, applied to Web 2.0 research, and the potential ethical issues associated with this work. The findings of the project will be presented by Helene Snee, PhD student at the University of Manchester who conducted the study. This will be followed by a discussion of the key issues arising, including potential avenues for future research.
If you would like to attend, please reply via the voting buttons attached to this email by 27 October. If you have already informed Helene that you are unable to attend then this email is for information only and you don't need to respond again.
Please forward this invitation to colleagues who may find it of interest.
Best wishes and I hope to see you on 4 November.
