Researcher required for exciting development project
Short term contract/flexible working
We’re looking for someone to enable the first crucial steps of a project
which aims to have a major impact on the health care of vulnerable groups.
Bowel & Cancer Research (reg. charity no. 1119105) has secured funding
from the Big Lottery Fund to undertake preliminary development work as a
precursor to submitting a major funding bid. The work will focus on
women in the Asian community in the East End and vulnerable people
living in isolated rural communities in County Durham.
We’re looking for a flexible individual who is able to work on their own
initiative. The work will require a creative but disciplined approach,
and the contracted individual will be required to:
a) Identify the key stakeholder groups, where they are and what
communication channels will be most effective in dealing with them,
b) undertake preliminary desk based research on existing research
pertinent to our research question (e.g. related literature review) and
c) carry out the scoping and production of ethics framework for main
project.
We have funding to support this role for 3 days per week over 3 months,
but are flexible about how this is worked.
The researcher will link with academics at Queen Mary and Durham
universities and will receive supervision and support from Bowel &
Cancer Research and its partner Healthcare Technology Cooperative.
This role would suit a recent Masters or PhD degree graduate with an
academic background in the social sciences and excellent
interview/communication skills or an experienced researcher with
relevant experience.
