Clive,
(I am unable to respond via the forum so I am sending direct to you
instead)
Landclean are not involved with the Avenue Coking Works Project.
Small scale thermal trials were done by MEL. These were followed up
by full scale trials at a thermal plant in Rotterdam by my company DEC.
The contractor finally appointed to remediate the coking works is called
VSD Avenue, a joint venture between DEC, SITA BV and Volker Stevin.
For this project a TD plant is being purpose built next year.
So far in the UK there have been at least four large scale TD jobs on
gasworks, pesticide factories amongst others.
Your technical answer is correct, TD is very efficient at hydrocarbon
removal - typically >99%. Price is largely dependent on type of fuel and
fuel prices, also depends on how much is to be treated because
equipment mob costs are high. Treatment at a soil treatment centre
gets around this though none are yet offering TD in the UK yet.......
Typical indicative price per ton for on site TD is £40-70 - a big range I
know but there are many factors involved.
Kind regards,
Guy Pomphrey
