Hi Nik,
Thanks for taking a look so quickly.
Leaving the resolution of the images aside (I will get higher res ones
uploaded), I think you have misunderstood the power of KeyCSM to speed
up and improve the production of Conceptual Models. Unlike a CAD
package, changes (adding a source or removing a receptor) in say the
plan drawing are automatically reflected in the Network Diagram.
The idea is that you DON'T need a CAD Tech - instead the person who is
most familiar with the site, is making the interpretation, is carrying
out the qualitative risk assessment or indeed is designing the next
phase of investigation or remediation uses what is intuitive software to
help them do the job.
I will get some additional images put on the website to illustrate the
outputs rather than the workspace so hopefully you will get a better
idea of what can be done.
One final point is that although KeyCSM works very well with an OS map
extract as background, licensing issues prevent us from putting such
images on the website. You can build your conceptual model onto OS maps
or even aerial imagery on a project specific basis.
Thanks again for your interest and feedback,
Best regards
Paul

Subject: Re: KeyCSM Launch Event - Conceptual Site modelling software
laucnh event: 4 November 2008
I have just had a quick look on the LQM website to see the conceptual
model programme which is now being sold/touted for use and am appalled
at what I've seen. I have attached a bite from the web site showing a
site plan.
I would expect my wife's primary school class (age 7) to produce
better!!
If this is as good as it gets I would prefer hand drawings to be
submitted with SI reports.
We have a CAD lad in house who in no time can generate a cross section
plan where required and site plans for every project we work on. This
looks to be etchasketch for consultants!! If you want a computered
aided drawing - get a CAD tech!
If this is not a true representation of the quality of the work which
can be obtained from the conceptual model programme please put better
examples on the web site.
