I am a GP, now very part time as clinician and more focused on healthcare
commissioning as a 'GP commissioner', research in primary care and engaging
in the broad healthcare debates we should be having. In particular I try to
understand the ways in which communities and society generate illness or
health and how communities do and should respond to those who are unwell.
I find complexity thinking enormously helpful in all these areas. It's one
of the conceptual tools I use, along with the Arts, philosophy, psychology,
the new physics and spirituality. This group is stimulating and helps me to
feel less alone - the medical and healthcare management worlds can be very
alienating environments.
I worry a bit about Facebook - it's the fear of being confronted by
advertisements. I remain sane only by seeing them as little as possible.
