Greetings Declan,
I am another GP on this listserve with a long standing interest in
complexity in medicine. I am emailing just to make contact & say "hi"
really.
I work part time in village practice, am GP trainer & Course Organiser (
Programme Director) & have been for past 20 years including chairmanship of
the ACO for 4 years. I now also work part time at the Graduate Entry
Medicine (GEM) course in Derby where I take a lead of PBL development &
delivery. Our approach to PBL is a Complex Adaptive System Approach "CASA"
which captures group dynamics and student centred learning principles.
I have been working with & using complexity in education for some years too.
Sadly I will not be able to comit to this think tank of 25 folk at thi
sstage of events; clash of dates.

I need your help with a complexity and health workshop. Helen Cooper and
I are organising a 2 and 1/2 day workshop on complexity and European
health policy in Spring/Summer 2009 at Lancaster University UK and are
applying for funding from the European Science Foundation. They will
fully fund 25 participants from outside of the UK, but within Europe.
However, they need a preliminary list of participants to be sent with
the application and it is due by the end of this week. If you are
outside of the UK but based in Europe, work on Complexity and health and

or two.
Has complexity gone to sleep?
Are people working on things which are just bubbling under?
How has the field moved on?
Go on folks, rouse the slumbering giant, and send the list a paragraph
