User Experience Researcher / Senior UE Researcher
as part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership
£24,253- £38,250
This is an exciting opportunity to bridge between academic and industrial experiences. The successful applicant will work alongside the academic team at the UCL Interaction Centre (UCLIC) to research, compare, and innovate usability evaluation methods and design practice. The holder of this position will both write academic papers aimed at appropriate conferences and journals, and lead the redesign of a successful ecommerce web site, www.paperstone.co.uk. The successful applicant will be based at Paperstone's offices in London's vibrant West End, and will work in a small agile team to evaluate the current system using a variety of methods, and then prototype and rapidly implement the results of the research.
A Knowledge Transfer Partnership is a unique opportunity to combine the best of the academic and commercial worlds. The post is for 18 months and includes generous opportunities for further academic study including a comprehensive management-training program, and the potential to continue employment with Paperstone at the end of the post.
Paperstone is a fast growing, energetic young company, ambitious for growth, with core competencies in technology, Internet marketing and customer services. Paperstone sell 18,000 office products with direct fulfillment from Europe's largest office products wholesaler. New versions of their ecommerce website are released regularly. Paperstone want to place the user at the heart of the design process for their next generation ecommerce site, and the applicant will lead this effort.
The applicant should have a good first degree in a relevant subject (CompSci, Psychology etc), and at least a Master's degree in HCI. An understanding of the web development life cycle with real life experience of designing and building websites would also be desirable.
