I just received my copy of the Research Framework for Archaeometallurgy
and read
it last night. Congratulations to all involved in its production. It is
a superb
overview of the scope, methods and findings of archaeometallurgy in Britain,
beautifully produced in full colour. It succeeds both in documenting the very
impressive achievements of British archaeometallurgists, and as a forceful
statement of why it is important to research and preserve the evidence of past
metallurgical production. We in the USA are light-years behind you on both
counts!

> sections that describe the types of evidence that exist, the methods
> used in researching the history of metallurgy, and the present level
> of knowledge and understanding of a selection of topics dating from
> the Bronze Age to the 20th century. The final section sets an agenda
> for future research. There are 96 pages and 88 figures, most in full
> colour, a full bibliography and an index. Copies may be purchased for
