Two 3 -year research associate positions are currently available in the Dept
of Statistics in Glasgow University. This is the biggest Statistics department
in Scotland and was rated 5 for research in the previous research
assessment exercises.
The first position (closing date October 17th) is a new position focussed on
the development of statistical methodology applied to cognitive
neurosciences. A centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging has recently been
formed in the Department of Psychology with a platform of different state-of
the art brain imaging facilities (www.ccni.gla.ac.uk), and the post-holder,
although based in the Department of Statistics will be expected to work
closely with the psychologists.
The second post (closing date 14th November) is a new position created
due to the award of a NERC Knowledge Exchange grant (Statistics, the
environment, regulation and policy: developing the evidence base), with
project partners Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Scottish Natural
Heritage, Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (Edinburgh) and the Scottish
Government. The post holder will be expected to work closely with these
organisations in both developing statistical methodology appropriate for a
series of environmental issues as well as assisting in delivering training.
