Yes Marie, we have similar problems - in one campus there is a sign
that the lifts are to be prioritised for use by disabled staff - but not
in others.
We need to create a UCA wide policy...

Subject: priority access to lifts
This may seem like an odd question ... but here goes.
There are places on campus which are 'hot spots' regarding using the
lifts to get to offices and classrooms -- i.e. there can be quite a wait
to get onto the lifts.
A staff member with a disability works on the higher floors and so needs
to use the lift. The staff member was wondering whether it would be
possible to get some kind of badge which would signify to others the
need to have priority access to the lifts (kinda of like a blue badge
for parking). A similar type of request has been made by a student
regarding getting access to the lifts because of their disability.
So just wondering if any of you have come across similar issues and
whether you have adopted any policies or programs?
Thanks
Marie
