Hi Mike
As far as I know, the Mauve Factor Test for Kryptopyrolle was invented by
Dr. Abraham Hoffer who is still in (modified) psychiatric practice in
Victoria BC Canada. (Hoffer was an early LSD co-worker with Timothy Leary.
He has a world-wide following in the orthomolecular area.) There are
numerous references to this test on the internet (Google = Mauve Factor
Test). Does it work? Hard to say. We did the test in the late 70s and our
staff would try to guess the outcome of the test based upon the behaviour of
the patient in the waiting room. No correlation. Dr. Hoffer himself
stopped using the test about 1980.

Subject: Kryptopyrrole ...
Dear colleagues,
I was surprised by a request to analyse kryptopyrrole with the aim to
"assess biochemical imbalances using concepts of orthomolecular medicine".
Having spent a number of years in laboratory medicine, I have never heard
before of either krypropyrrole or Mauve factor.
Would any of you please let me know what is being measured ? What kind of
assay is being employed ? What is the interpretation of the result ?
Finally, I can not resist asking you about the usefulness of the analysis.
Any pro and con will be appreciated.
Best regards,
Mike
