AI-2008 offers the perfect opportunity for you to update your knowledge of current AI
developments and applications, and to meet with leading AI practitioners in a relaxed
social environment. This year's conference brings technical papers on the latest
developments in AI, presentations from industry practitioners with practical experience
of applying AI in the real world, and a range of workshops - ideal for those seeking to
expand and deepen their knowledge of a wide range of AI techniques. All this in the
historic surroundings of Peterhouse, Cambridge's oldest college.

The BCS SGAI is pleased at announce that:

 - Registration prices are held below AI-2004 levels
 - Workshops are now FREE for those registering at the main conference

WORKSHOPS (9th December)

There is a preliminary day (Tuesday December 9th) devoted to half- day workshops on:

- Recent Developments in Intelligent Robotics Practice

- Application of Natural Language Processing

- Artificial Intelligence in Education

- Intelligent Systems in Accounting, Finance and Management

together with the 13th UK CBR Workshop (full day).

This day is included FREE for attendees of the main conference, but can be attended
on its own at a special rate.

MAIN CONFERENCE

The main 2-day conference (Wednesday December 10th - Thursday December 11th)
includes:

- Keynote lectures:

Professor John Debenham (University of Technology, Sydney, Australia) on
'Automating Negotiation: It's what you know that matters'

Dr Graham Ball (Nottingham Trent University, UK) on 'Using Artificial Neural Network
based computational algorithms for finding patterns in complex biomedical data'

- Technical stream papers on CBR and Classification, AI Techniques, Argumentation
and Negotiation, Intelligent Systems, From Machine Learning To E-Learning and
Decision Making.

 - Application stream papers on Machine Learning, Web Technologies, Intelligent
Systems and AI in Health Care.

- Industry Presentations: the Application Stream will include presentations and case-
studies by industry practitioners, offering insights into the practical issues that are faced
when implementing and deploying AI based systems.

 - Poster sessions on emerging research and applications in intelligent systems.

 - The seventh annual BCS prize competition for the best live demonstration of
Progress Towards Machine Intelligence.

This year's conference will be held at Peterhouse College in Cambridge. In addition to
the formal sessions, the conference programme includes a welcome reception and a
Gala Dinner. Plenty of time has been inserted into the programme to allow discussions
with other delegates and time to make new contacts and renew old acquaintances.

AI-2008 offers a valuable opportunity to keep up to date with developments in AI and to
share experiences in the practical issues of developing AI based systems.

Discounts are available for members of SGAI, AISB and other ECCAI member
societies, students and also for members of NCAF.
