Digital literacy in an e-world: the 8th annual e-books event.
One day Conference organised by MmITS/SCURL/SLIC
30th October 2008
Vitra Conference Suite, The Lighthouse, Glasgow.
This year's annual e-books conference is being held in the Vitra Conference Suite on the 3rd floor of The Lighthouse, Glasgow. The Lighthouse (http://www.thelighthouse.co.uk/content/home/1/) is Scotland's Centre for Architecture, Design and the City. Delegates will have free access to the current Lighthouse exhibitions and Mackintosh Tower offering stunning city views, and will receive a 15% discount on any purchases made at the Lighthouse shop.
This year the theme is 'digital literacy', equipping people with skills to benefit from and participate in an electronic Information Society. Speakers include Christine Irving and John Crawford on the Scottish Information Literacy Project, Sarah Fahmy and Jim Henderson on the JISC Collections for Schools initiative, Duncan Chappell from Glasgow School of Art on using Web technologies to develop information skills, John Coll on business information services and Paul Riley talking about the Welsh e-books consortium. Helen Ellis will be showcasing ProQuest's Safari Select Ebooks. This event also provides a great opportunity to speak with trade exhibitors and see their latest products and services. During lunch there will also be a demonstration of ebook readers.
Delegate places are £85 + VAT (last year's price having been held). For more details and to book a place visit the events calendar on www.slainte.org.uk
