Research posts on sustainable city regions
Salary range £22,332 to £44,074
University of Cambridge
Applications are invited for the following three research positions on a project
that aims to understand how urban density, settlement size and spatial form
may affect the potential for infrastructure technologies to improve
sustainability. This multidisciplinary research will be carried out within a land
use transport modelling framework extended to include energy, urban form,
water and waste. There will be case studies of the Greater South East and
North East regions of the UK.
Senior Research Associate, 3 years fixed term, to develop an integrated
framework for testing possible future patterns of regional spatial
development. This will include developing a behavioural land use and transport
model and integrating this with models of energy generation and supply, urban
form, water and waste management developed by the project partners.
Research Associate, 3 years fixed term, to develop a systems approach to
integrate the expertise and design tools of the university partners across the
energy, health, transport, urban design, water, and waste sectors. The
researcher will then use this systems tool to design integrated multi-sector
options. This role requires an understanding of planning and sustainability
issues, the communication skills to proactively interact with partner
organisations, and good report writing skills.
Research Associate or Research Assistant, 2 years fixed term, for an
adaptable researcher with the analytical skills to assist with testing the
integrated options with the integrated modelling framework, to acquire and
assemble data, prepare inputs, operate computer models, analyse outputs and
assist with preparing research reports.
