Postdoc position in Ultrafast chemical physics: terahertz spectroscopy of
hydrogen bonding
Salary £27,466 - £30,912 (pending review)
Applications are invited for a three-year postdoctoral position to join the
ultrafast team in the Biomolecular & Chemical Physics group in the
Department of Physics at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK.
You will be using a new state-of-the-art ultrafast amplified laser system
situated in a newly refurbished laboratory to make high-power terahertz
laser pulses. These will be applied in novel spectroscopic techniques to
study hydrogen-bond dynamics, liquid-liquid transitions, and supercooling in
systems such as water and protein model systems. You will also be encouraged
to collaborate closely with other members of the ultrafast team.
The preferred start date is 1 January 2009. Further information about us can
be found at http://bcp.phys.strath.ac.uk/ultrafast/.
You will have a PhD in physics or physical chemistry and have a strong
background in laser spectroscopy. Previous postdoctoral experience and
experience in ultrafast spectroscopy and (soft) condensed matter physics or
chemical physics are desirable.
