Dear All,
On a memorial to those killed in the Great War, at Retford, these
words are used:
"They willingly left the unachieved purpose of their lives in order
that all life should not be wrenched from its purpose." It appears
that the letters R.K. are appended.
On line research suggests that the same sentence is used on a plaque
outside the Public Library in Gravenhurst (Bedford), and on a Cenotaph
at Werneth Low, Tameside, but without the attribution.
Can anyone shed further light on the Retford R.K.?
With thanks in anticipation,
John
