Aspergers.
I work in an industry where it's (supposed) to be rife. I get a bit
suspicious. Yeah, a lot more have it than the official figures (but
that goes for pretty much *every* mental health problem) but yet -
and I'm not saying that anyone is claiming otherwise on this thread -
I think it's sometimes a cover for being rude, arrogant and
dismissive. It's come to the point where amongst programmers, I need
to see a doctor's certificate before I believe them.
I discussed this with a friend of mine - another programmer - and I
could see that I could claim a mild form of aspergers. But my reasons
for social ineptitude, language skills, arrogance etc was from years
of inward looking and that's the way I took my life. Psychology not
physiology.
