My other comment is that I definitely wouldn't do it at the behest of
the employer because it was too diificult for them to deal with

In very exceptional circumstances I would do a home visit (ex district
nurse so know the risks associated with going unaccompanied in to
patient homes). So there lies point. I would not go unaccompanied. I
would always take a colleague for the first visit and judge it from
thereafter.
Secondly if they can get to the GP's for their Med3 then they can get to
the place of employment for OH assessment.

As a result of a particularly horrible experience on a home visit once
when I ended up calling the police and an ambulance I don't do these
unless there are really compelling reasons why I should. Personally I
also think there is value in getting the individual in to see you as
part of a graded expposure to the workplace. I am aware that the Suzy
Lamplugh Trust has does some advisory nottes on this kind of
professional issue and most community workers (eg health visitors) have
their own protocols. Would be interested in the views of others from an
OH perspective

Hi Folks,
does anyone have a protocol or procedure for the above, I am looking
especially at visiting staff with drug and/or alcohol issues in their
own homes?
