Communication Faculty Position - Open Rank

The Communication Department, housed within the Faculty of Education,
at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (founded 2003) is
seeking to fill one or more tenured or tenure track faculty positions
(open rank) in Communication to begin on 1 July 2009. Research and
teaching interests should focus on one or more of the following areas:
advertising, communication technology, digital media, health
communication, public relations, media management, science and
technology. Preference will be given to communication scholars,
especially those with interests in international communication,
security issues, and/or medical communication.
Applicants must have a strong record of academic research and teaching
undergraduate and graduate students. Those with a PhD in Communication
or related discipline or close to completing their PhD's will be
considered. Industry expertise in the mass media, science
communication and/or medical profession and online teaching experience
are definite assets.
Successful applicants will teach four half courses per academic year
in the BA and MA communication programs. This is a unique opportunity
for those interested in shaping 21st century start-up programs in
applied communication. As Ontario's first laptop-based university,
UOIT has grown to more than 5,000 students in only five short years.

Application Deadline: Screening of applications will begin 15 November
2008 and will continue until the positions are filled. Interested

current CV with complete professional and academic history, teaching
evaluations, sample syllabi, two samples only of scholarly
publications, unofficial graduate transcripts and a list of at least 3

The search committee chair will interview candidates at the NCA
conference in San Diego, 21-24 November 2008. Final interviews of
short-listed candidates will be held at UOIT during the spring of
2009.
These positions are subject to budget approval. Applicants should have
fluent written and oral communication skills in English.
