Hi Anna
I have also seen Microsoft Photostory and Movie Maker used very successfully for demonstrating online catalogue use both of which are free software of course!
Best wishes

Subject: Re: Powerpoint presentation as training for using catalogue
Hi Anna,
At UCA we're using animated PowerPoint presentations as a way of
training students on how to use the library catalogue. I am also in the
process of creating a stand-alone online tutorial using Adobe Presenter.
This will involve converting Ppt slides into Flash and adding an audio
track so that it can be viewed over the web as an audio-visual tutorial.
This is very easy to do if your used to using PowerPoint.
I went to a very useful workshop at the University of Leicester on Adobe
Presenter, details of which are linked below. This software if far
easier to use than time-based image capture tools such as Camtasia.
Slide animation can be easily synched with audio and the audio editing
and quizmaster features are an added bonus, allowing you to build
quizzes into presentations and provide audio feedback.
Best wishes,
Kristy

I would be very grateful to have details of links (or files) of examples
of where you have used powerpoint as a means of providing training on
using a library catalogue; particularly where it is provided for the
user to work through themselves rather than at a meeting or tutorial.
Many thanks
