Information Services Group (London and South-East Section) and
University, College and Research Group (London Section) invite you to
attend the following event:
Evening Discussion Meeting - "Policing Library Users - Ethics &
Practice" - Wednesday 8th October 2008 at CILIP HQ, Ridgmount Street.
Refreshments and food from 5.30 p.m. for 6.00 p.m. start. The
meeting should finish by 8.00 p.m.
There will be no charge for attending the event.
There is concern that library staff may be enlisted to police library
users suspected of involvement in terrorism, a matter highlighted by
Tim Buckley-Owen in his recent lecture "Bloggers, Blowers and
Leakers" to the Association of UK Media Librarians (reported in

This meeting is an opportunity to discuss and explore the issue.
