Thanks to everyone for the postings - I have managed to get Word to validate
and use the xsd files. I have had to make a local copy of the files
(re-creating the file structure in my local drive) and use them from this
local environment.
I don't know quite why there was an issue - but it may be due to Word
requesting a file to be uploaded, I would prefer it to have an option of a
URI/URL. When I had tried to give a URL
(http://standards.ieee.org/reading/ieee/downloads/LOM/lomv1.0/xsd/lom.xsd)
it used this to download files (temporary internet files in Documents and
Settings) - this (I think) breaks the relational file referencing that
exists in the xsd files. N.B. it gives me an error when it tries to
'[include]' another file.
I have now managed to get a Word doc marked up against the LOM and an XML
file created. I have now been able to use this XML file to populate metadata
fields of another document I wanted to upload to a repository (IMS 1.3).
I will work on Word referencing files located on the internet. Fingers Crossed!
Kind regards,
Ben
