Dear colleague,
As a highly regarded member of the community of language-teaching
academics across the UK, you are invited to contribute to our research
into current practice and attitudes to e-learning. With the rapid take-
up of social networking tools by students, we feel that a snapshot of
current practice is essential to understanding learners* and teachers*
needs, and essential in pointing towards where future developments
should go in the field of e-learning. One such development currently
underway is the FAROES online language repository, a digital space
where language tutors will be able to store, manage and share their
resources, making use of the best practice principles that web 2.0
technologies have to offer. FAROES is a project funded by JISC, whose
outputs will be freely available to all in the community.
To respond to current needs and create the best possible service, your
feedback is essential. Please fill out a short questionnaire by
following this link:
http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/60504/e-learning-attitudes-and-practices-w
ithin-the-language-teaching-community
Please note that the questionnaire will only take 5 to10 minutes to
complete. Participation is voluntary. As a respondent, you will remain
anonymous throughout and no attempt will be made to find the source of
any response. Answering of all questions is not compulsory. You will be
able to view and edit the entire questionnaire before submitting it
but, given the anonymity of participation, withdrawing data from the
survey will not be possible once the questionnaire is submitted. The
source of individual responses is of no interest to the research team,
who only need to gain an overall picture of the degree of integration
of e-learning in the delivery of MFL courses in HE. Identifying
institutions or individual teaching staff is irrelevant throughout the
research, including the dissemination of results (possibly at a
national conference and/or as a journal contribution).
We hope that you are willing to contribute to a project from which the
whole community will benefit, and we would like to thank you in advance
for responding to the questionnaire. Your contribution is very much
appreciated.
