Salary : £23,002 to £25,135 per annum, depending on qualifications and
experience (salary can progress to £28,290 per annum, subject to
performance)
Applications are invited for the above post to support the expanding activities
of the IESSG, an international centre of excellence based at one of the UK’s
strongest research–led universities. The IESSG has earned global renown for
its research and is housed in excellent purpose-built accommodation in the
centre of Nottingham’s superb University Park campus. The IESSG is part of
the School of Civil Engineering and is involved in teaching activities at both
undergraduate and postgraduate level.
The role holder would join a team including two Senior Experimental Officers,
overseen by the IESSG Facilities Manager and the Director of the IESSG. The
role holder will be expected to work as part of this team in supporting the
academic and research staff in all of the IESSG teaching and research
activities. The role holder would also be expected to continuously improve
their knowledge and understanding related to the surveying and mapping
techniques (and the associated equipment, IT, software and data) which
underpin all of the IESSG teaching and research activities.
A good honours degree (or equivalent), preferably with a master’s degree (or
equivalent), and/or experience in a geomatics or surveying related discipline is
required. Knowledge and understanding of state-of-the-art surveying and
mapping techniques most relevant to Civil Engineering including levelling, total
station work and GPS are essential; knowledge and understanding of other
state-of-the-art surveying and mapping techniques including terrestrial laser
scanning, photogrammetry and satellite-based remote sensing, are desirable.
A full UK driving licence or access to independent means of transport is also
required as the person appointed will need to travel to various locations to
install/deliver/repair/support off-site equipment.
