I am trying to measure tree-ring length from carbonized wood, and
wonder what would be the best way to harden samples before cutting.
The carbonized wood samples are very fragile and soil is still
attached on the surface after excavation. I was informed that I could
use either Paraloid B72 or Polyethylene glycol for hardening. Are
these right chemicals for a try? Can anyone instruct me on how these
chemicals can be properly used?
