MRC GPRF Research Fellow
£29,329-£47,143 per annum inclusive of location allowance
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced researcher, with a
background in
medical research, to lead on a study on recruitment and attrition in randomised
controlled trials. The project is funded by the MRC Population Health Sciences
Research Network (PHSRN).
You will lead on an important systematic review of attrition in trials, and
update the
literature on trial recruitment. In addition you will lead a scoping exercise in
MRC
Units to investigate effective recruitment and retention strategies.
You will work closely with experts in systematic reviews, trialists and
epidemiologists
from MRC Units. You will be responsible for all aspects of the systematic
review, and
the scoping exercise, and may also contribute to other projects that arise.
A minimum of a science honours degree and/or a post-graduate degree in
systematic
reviews, epidemiology, biostatistics or similar health related disciplines is
required.
Extensive research experience, including literature searching and reviews, trials
methodology, writing and presenting is essential. Experience of conducting
systematic reviews or meta-analyses, practical experience of clinical trials,
developing survey questionnaires and/or structured interviews is desirable.
This post will appeal to a highly motivated and committed individual with
excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work both
independently
and collaboratively.
The post is full-time for two years and may also be suitable as a secondment
opportunity. It is based at the MRC GPRF in central London. Benefits include
