The RSPB Conservation Data Unit are looking for an enthusiastic data manager
with experience of GIS and mapping to join our Data Access Team in
Edinburgh. You will provide support and training to staff using our in-house
conservation database and GIS (Merlin), and you will also create maps and
provide other GIS and data management services. Initially, you will undertake
a review of the datasets held on Merlin, validating and documenting datasets
where necessary. You will also assist with managing and sharing RSPB
datasets so that they are easily available for conservation use through Merlin
and the National Biodiversity Network. The ideal person would have experience
of mapping and data management, the ability to work with datasets in an
organised manner, excellent IT skills, an aptitude for training and enthusing
others, and an interest in wildlife and conservation.
Salary:
£17,000 to £21,000
