CASE Graduate Research Studentship
In collaboration with Ipsos MORI, the Centre for Transport Studies at UCL
has funding from EPSRC for an 3.5 year Industrial CASE studentship for the
following project:
Development of multi-modal transport models for traffic flows
The project aims to improve the understanding of intelligent transport
systems to promote efficient use of the transport system and meet
requirements for mobility and timely delivery of appropriate information to
travellers, through the development of a multi-modal transport models. The
core of the research will be a unique large-scale survey of individual
travel movements being collected by Ipsos MORI. A national sample of 20,000
respondents will be recruited to carry GPS meters that track their
movements. The student will have access to this rich data source as well as
other data sources provided by Transport for London, public transport
operators and the Department for Transport.
Prospective applicants should have, or expect to gain, a good honours degree
(first or upper second class honours) in a relevant subject. Knowledge in
one or more of the following is essential: Transport modelling, statistical
analysis, GIS, geography or civil engineering. Candidates must have a
relevant connection with the UK to meet EPSRC eligibility criteria for
funding of an award. Further information on EPSRC Case studentships can be
